Defining luxury for a leading drinks brand

Diageo is a global leader in alcoholic beverages with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer. They produce a collection of over 200 brands – old and new, large and small, global and local – that are enjoyed in more than 180 countries around the world.

Award-winning learning agency Brightwave, who was developing an interactive course for Diageo, approached us to help art direct and create a design style for the course learning materials.

Purpose

The course aimed to educate different departments within Diageo’s organisation about their lines of luxury products and to convey their bold future vision as a global leader in drinks production.

Challenges

Our biggest challenge was producing a world-class experience for the course, which flowed seamlessly between content screens and interactive content whilst keeping the viewer inspired and engaged.

Our Approach

We worked closely with Brightwave to help capture the course content visually. This involved tailoring the design style to the traditional Diageo look and feel, but also giving it a fresh twist that made the experience unique.

We kicked off with a round of visual research, which allowed us to collaborate with the team and create a shared vision through a series of workshops and discussions.

FOUNDATION

Building a style

Our initial research and collaboration with the Brightwave team allowed us to lay down a foundation for the course in the form of a style guide.

The visual guide created a foundation for the course design, from typography through to imagery, and interface elements.

The Result

Equipped with the style foundations we’d built in the guidelines document, we then rolled the style out across a variety of journeys including an animated introduction experience.

CREATIVE

Rolling out

Lastly, we designed a series of key interactive screens to be used throughout the course.

These interface elements could then be used across the remainder of the course content, providing an elegant ‘on brand’ experience throughout.
